Me and the girls are feeling restles and fractious…

I feel all out of sorts and unsettled and i don’t know why…. and i think beetle and Fudge are channeling it and having some sort of bizarre kitty stand off they thump each other if they see each other.. but they won’t take their eyes off each other .. every now and then it breaks out into full on war and they run around with Fudgey trying to bite beetles throat..

at the moment they are both sitting above me on the shelf above the computer desk with their backs turned looking “disgruntled”

if one of them looks at me the other will go at it again…. sigh..

Sttiching has been a bit disaterish.. i have hit one of my rare walls .. i am stitching but not what i am meant to ie i am stitching a gift and my patch work sampler, not Elenia.. i put a few stitches in her last night but it was a slow process

i finished the little gift , but now i need to put it together, and i realised after i had braved the evil Spotlight ( hate spotlight it has eaten most of Australias LNS”s) to buy my fat knitting needles that i probably needed some more Perle cotton to do the twisty cord thing… sigh… i said to paul when we got into the car…. if i go back in there now will you get grumpy… and i got a look, so i decided not to push it, after all i was campaigning for him to spend the day in the garden and not play golf so i figured i should just leave well enough alone

So i am restless and fractious, and of course that means i am looking at charts online… Safe though, i am destitute until Wednesday ( payday)

So i decided to do a list of Samplers i must stitch again as new ones keep popping up ..

So whilst i was getting the Black Lace link.. i saw this Quaker frog…. and i love him Quaker Frog… and i also saw a dragon one a few of you might like….. Dragon Roundelay

so see after all that i found things i want to buy.. i know WHAT a surprise!! not

last week ifinally convinced paul that i should cook congee, i had made the fatal error when i first decided i wanted to make it of not just reading out the uingredients, instead i told him what it was first, so saying sort of like a rice porridge made him go blech and he closed his ears to the ingredients, now normally if i start to read ingredients and i say , rice, stock, fresh ginger,onion star anise… he would have already said yes..

So anyway last week after a suitable gap and he had forgotten i had ever said the word Congee ( there are some benefits to him being more of a space cadet than me) i tried again and i had success this time..

so bravely adapting a non slow cooker recipe to the slow cooker for the first time i made Pork Congee..

a simple recipe from Hot Food a murdoch books book we cook a lot of recipes out of… we also cook a lot of recipes out of Bowl food and   Cool food.. but i really want the grownup versions of all the Marie Claire and Donna Hay Recipe books which are in a similar vein food style wise but way nicer books and recipes Top of the list is Marie Claire Hot , though Marie Claire Luscious and marie Claire Zest were not easily parted with last year as a gift to Pauls sister for xmas, nor was Donna Hays Off The Shelf … now thats what I call a cool xmas present

Spose some of you are wondering what congee is …. here is the Wikipedia explanation i want some of the correct rice now… oh and it is nicer the next day..

I have not been able to get my head around stitching singlke stitches in the past foew days so i had a break from both my models and played around with a gift for someone and my patchwork sampler..

need peoples opinions.. do you think the green i chose to sttich is the righ one or do i need to go a shade or two lighter OR a bit more like Tropical Seas or Jewel Turquoise or even Spring Garden… all from Gloriana.. no i do not own any of these also like Monet’s pond Green So anyway here is the pic , i would be greatful for any opinions i like it just not sure i like it a LOT…

also added in is the beginning of a big section of purple stars in a circle using Colour Streams Jacaranda.. love the floss name and it it is almost the perfect match for a jacaranda flower too IMO and i finished a section !! completed the Sweetpea coloured  Stars ( gumnut star silk)  and grapevine ( viki Clayton silk) section

i have been sitting on the fence for 24 hours now on whether i like it or not..

Can anyone point me in the correct direction on how to write on my images.. so i can write in the floss colours on the actual sections.. it is a scary thought and feels way too technical for me.. but i need to do it i think…

So..

i am looking at audio books.. planning ahead for when i have my mega big ipod thingy..

yeah yeah i know that is like … whimper… three months away

and what got me excited when i saw they were available..

some deep meaningful insightful novel about the world and its woes..some amazing classic about un requited love ……………. no what got me excited was seeing Agatha christie novels…. i think they would be perfect for stitching too as i could pretty much write the synopsis for every one of them ever released, so it would be like watching CSI reruns and stitching i could get distracted with a few detail stitches and not lose the plot.. so tospeak..

so there you have it.. i am a true dag , what you need more proof.. what di i then think of.. i wonder if enid blyton books are available…how cool would it be stitching to the Magic faraway tree, or my fav the nortiest girl in the school series…

I am pretty happy all my fav authors are there.. i can see me getting addicted to this especially with the crap tv we have in north west tasmania.. i think we are the last place in australia without access to digital tv even… and i will never convince paul we need austar until there is no cricket on free to air TV…. sigh

on the sttiching front i had a non model day.. i needed to relax.. and i had a gift to stitch and i want to do some patchwork sampler.. an angel sent me some lovely silks..

that would be the sonya variety of angel i know… she sent me a pile of Waterlillies in yummy colours.. of course they have been beside me for 2 days and no when i go to type up the names i have put them away… typical, there was baby’s breath, african sunset,  peach something.. , sunset, hmmm i can see the other ones in my mind but the names are not coming.. sorry

i am not going to be thanking people on the BB anymore.. apparently that causes problems and proves that favourites are played… so my thankyous will be private or on here

and i ask anyone i give gifts to to do the same please, it sucks but such is life

and on that point.. the adorable Paula sent me a print of my portrait feelin Girly by Stacey Tippen, i am pretty stoked about that too, i have emailled Prinn asking her what she sees as the appropriate frame as this print will definately be framed, Hugs paula, you really are a treasure

and to finish just in case you haven’t seen it, the latest update in the Purple Sampler thingy from Ink circles the model stitcher has posted her second wip..

and finally my patchwork sampler, the section i want to highlight this week is the lovley deep pink bit intertwined with GrapeVine from Vikki Clayton.. it is colour 58 …sweet pea colour range

it is a Gumnut threads Star Silk and it is lovley to stitch with, and the colours are awesome, i ordered some more this morning there is a link to a big page with all the colours well previewed

i think i gavbe Sharon a skein to look at too for her Birthday.. i think,, i got confuzzled as to which ones to give her…

damn just checked it and there is still a bit cut off the patchwork sampler… sigh….

so a number of you worried i had hurt my brain typing up a snippet of my thought processes…. thats the reason i stopped when i did when typing it, my brain was totally confuzzled as to what part was operating when i had to eat chocolate and stitch after it to recombobulate

i bought some wool yesterday.. had no intention of doing so it just leapt uncontrollabley into my cart.. true i had emailled the wool lady about how many skeins she had of a certain yummy wool and she emailled me back so i’m not sure how unintentional it was…

I also succumbed to Lindy’s badgering about the beautiful and intriguing Tokens of Love Pinkeep book and ordered it didn’t have to pay yet as it isn’t due for release until December so i can just pretend it didn’t happen for a while..lol

i had a finish as i said the other day but i stil can’t do the picture of the finished piece.. i can’t download it from my phone.. i always hav awful trouble making it work here is the pre fobbinating of the pice

it was stitched on a 36 count silkweaver solo 1×1 with purkle fred gloriana silk it is from Splendour 15 alphabet ( hearts content) which Lindy sent me last week

i have to scan my patchwork sampler again as i tested the gumnut silks .. they are lovely to stitch with will definately be buying moreand i have a pathetic amount of snow pixie to scan.. so the next blog entry will have pics, i should also have made a decision on a few chart issues giggle

SEE i have no hope i might just have to give up and do nothing at this rate

here she is .. and no i don’t know why you can only see one side of her… at least you can see most of the side i worked on…i just made my brain explode trying to do a clickable thumb.. less said about that the better.. i am a computer fool just proved it i think

slow but steady and all that, i lost a day frogging, now most would expect that would happen in the single stitch areas like the jewels or the feathers, NO not me i had one highlight stitch in the bodice.. was 1 stupid stitch out, it threw the whole line further along out which i didn’t pick up so about 800 stitches later when i reached the bottom row and the next floating highlight stitch top discover i was out of whack.. so my lesson is i am better and single stitch sections .. maybe it is because i can’t count past 10 ( being blonde and all)

at least i only had 3 colours in biggish blocks to frog not masses of single stitches so from that point of view it wasn’t bad

I have been playing around with my Patchwork Sampler and colours and i need i think to buy a green or two..

looking at the pic below the colours used are top left hand corner

Colourwash silk in African Sunset, next to that VC silk in cherry blossom , next row down Colour streams Purple Genie and below that Gloriana Periwinkle ( which is stunning IRL), and the little motifs below the African sunset are in VC Dark Wisteria

there is a strip of the design runs down from the Cherry blossom past /through the purple genie and i think it needs a green to set it off nicely. I have some purples with green through them but they don’t look right to me and annoyinly i can’t find a VC one i want .. annoying cos i do have a list of VC ones to buy atm..so i am hunting greens minty greens and aqua greens..of course the bestest ones i can see are all the spensive ones..

Next, i love this Warrior Chick from Nicole Cadet, The Black Guard  i like the haughty expression on her face and the way she holds herself, and just cos i clicked on the next link on the page, mainly because it said Amythesta Mermaid i really like her too

did i mention how much i liked Periwinkle from Gloriana… it is YUMMY i want to do a whole sampler of Periwinkle.. on a really dark fabric.. YUMMMMMM
