i needed a finish this week , so whilst recovering frm my bizarre sinus migraine thing i was hit with for 48 plus hours after paul mowed the lawn ( if this is a portent of things to come i willhave to move out when ever he mows!!)

so i stitched this little chart that has been calling me since i saved it.. using a spool of crazy feral black that vikki dyed a while back, it just seemed to suit the theme.. i mean what colour are seahorse dragons??

the chart came link is HERE

stitched 1×1 on 35 ct weddigen.. i used plain black silk for the alphabet i thought the feral black might be over kill.. lol

and here is page five of my Spot sampler so i have finished the first row and start row 2 next week..

here are my two wip pics for the week..

On Serenity the solid ish green flower motif at the bottom is only 1/2 done  as that is the size of the scanner i am hoping to get the top right hand corner finished next rotation and then there will be no more pics until i do the band of 40 odd stitches wide right across the bottom so i only have to do the photostitch thing once

there is a bigger picture HERE

I used the new OLd Maid of the Abyss on the next section of my spot sampler it does not stand out as much there as i would like so underneath there is a big junkof the J i also stitched  on Heritage de lettres last friday so you can see how deep it is.. of course thse who own the sue purple range know that the purple does not scan well especially next to the black .. the purple bit of it is the same as the final motif i am stitching on the sampler .. the half motif to the left.. so you can imagine how wonderfulit looks IRL

there is a bigger image HERE

and the better pic of Old Maid of The Abyss

next stop a concerted effort to knock off another big chunk of Lady in the Meadow

and in closing a link for Aussie girls who want pure wool felt for needle books etc.. well really anyone but us aussie girls have more trouble sourcing these things than other people in say the USA.. Felt Craft Studio
she has both a 40/60 blend felt and a pure wool felt..
no i have not ordered any yet but i intend to

A stitcher on the HDF board gave me the perfect name for my sue purple rich mystery spot sampler

I just thought i would pop in and show you my page two of the Mystery spot sampler..

i used the delicious dark sue-purple combo vicky and i came up with for the new motif
i didn’t start the motif which started on the edge of the page, when you do your own colour combos for something like this i find it important to get an idea of the size of a motif before deciding whether it should be light, dark, medium, dramatic etc

to recap it is the Martina Dey new Mystery Spot sampler being stitched in my own colour way 1×1 on 35 ct hdf undyed linen in the full sue purple range with extra LE colours and sue purplous at some stage

If you wish to see a bigger pic click HERE

and here is a better pic of the dark suepurple combo

i am very excited i have ordered my wonderful sounding Old Maid of the abyss silk from vikki ( 2 spools) it is double velvet midnight/black/the darkest sue purple  it will be stunning… and will definately feature in this sampler.. i am trying to pretend the aud has not plummeted.. i am employing head in the sand type tactics for now..

I am the current queen of singel stitches..
i can not even begin to tell you how many little spaces i filled in to the forest growth above her head..
i am at that stage of a haed chart where the closer i get the further away it feels…
Haed sttichers will know exactly what i mean…. it can take 2 days to do a 3cm x 3cm piece when working on forest floors etc , well it can me anyway
i will have another update tomorrow hopefully of my Mystery Spot Sampler

for a bigger picture see HERE

note the differences in colour. i continue to wage a battle with my new scanner

a thought October 2, 2008

keep reading in various BB’s etc people beating themselves up about never stitching all their stash

my thought is… does this matter..
my answer is … NO
and i might add it did not take much thought to come up with this..
it just requires people adjust their thinking and accept that they need to be kinder to themselves

i am a collector of good charts, linens and silks,
no collector uses all the things they collect..
i know for a fact people who collect first edition barbie dolls do not take them out of the box and play with them,

people who collect vintage cars do not in general drive them ,

people who collect spoons do not use a different special spoon every time they make tea

and stichers do not have to use all their collection of fine charts, linens and silks ( or cottons )

my collection helps keep small businesses running, makes no one ill, puts no ones life at risk, and does not harm my health or wellbeing in any way except to make me happy
i never spend beyond what i allocate each fortnight from my “allowance” ( well hardly ever … blush…. )

same as i do not care if i never finish any of my personal wips.. i like having wips, they satisfy my curiosity about a chart that i am obsessed with.. sometimes they hold my attention for a long time, sometimes a short time.. i usually go back to them when their voice gets loud again.. but if i don’t i do not dwell onit and see it as a reason to beat myself up.

i can do that just fine about my agoraphobia, ptsd, fibromyalgia, etc etc etc

its weird someone so riddled with anxiety, depression, stress responses and phobias can find it within herself to not let these things be added to the mantra of worries and fears
really it makes no sense

i sttiched an ornament the other day , Martina released one in the spot sampler mystery group ( see previous post for the picture of page 1)
i stitched it 1×2 on 50 ct using oxblood hdf and a little bit of gold sparkle thread .. if she releases more of these little gems i will stitch them all together  a s an ornament sampler.. if not and it is a one off, i will make it into a baby biscornu

which leads me too..

does anyone know of any 60 ct linen out there….
claudia accidentally stitched an ornament on what she thought was 1×2 on 40ct but when she thought it looked very small she checked and found it was about 60 ct ( she got the fab in a grab bag of 40 + ct fabs so it is unidentified)
but NOW i am dying to get some and try it out i want to make pretty little x’s like hers

i found some 64 ct which is used for cutwork etc and i ordered a piece of that.. to see if it can have x’s done on it… but if any one knows anything about 60 ct …..
